The Hilliard Division of Police will not file charges against a 23-year-old man who accidentally shot himself in the hand while securing a pistol outside his vehicle in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 3600 block of Park Mill Run Drive shortly after 9:30 p.m. June 9.
In considering the circumstances of the incident, including that the man was attempting to secure the pistol and no property was damaged or other person injured, police opted to not charge the man for improperly discharging a firearm within city limits, a first-degree misdemeanor, Lt. Ron Clark said.

* A burglary was reported between 6 and 9 p.m. June 11 at a residence in the 3700 block of Hillcrest Street West. Three ladders worth $911 were reported stolen.
* A breaking-and-entering incident was reported between 7 p.m. June 11 and 8 a.m. June 12 in the 5300 block of Franklin Street.
Four motorcycles, including a 1990 Kawasaki and a 2007 Honda, were reported stolen. Property loss was reported at $8,500.
* Credit cards and money were reported stolen between 3 and 4 a.m. June 5 from a vehicle in the 4600 block of Northwest Parkway. Property loss was reported at $1,300.
* A woman reported $2,570 was stolen between 6:45 a.m. June 9 and 7:45 p.m. June 11 from a residence in the 4300 block of Jeannette Road.
* A cellphone worth $1,200 was reported stolen between midnight and 5:45 a.m. June 13 from the 4600 block of Northwest Parkway.
* An 18-year-old woman was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance at 12:45 a.m. June 7 in the 3800 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.
* A 19-year-old was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance at 2:30 p.m. June 7 at Roberts and Alton Darby Creek roads.
* A 25-year-old man was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana at 3:50 p.m. June 7 at Scioto Darby Road and Luxair Drive.
* A 41-year-old man was arrested for aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor, and an 18-year-old woman was arrested for domestic violence at 1:15 a.m. June 8 in the 4600 block of Crystal Ball Drive.
* A 38-year-old woman was arrested for felony possession of drugs at 8:55 p.m. June 8 in the 5100 block of Norwich Street.
* A 32-year-old man was arrested for possession of drug-abuse instruments, a misdemeanor, at 3:55 p.m. June 11 in the 4100 block of Cemetery Road.
