Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh calls for 'encounters' of Trinamool Congress men

KOLKATA: West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh, who is known for making inflammatory statements, once against courted controversy on Wednesday threatened to conduct 'encounters of those Trinamool Congress leaders and cadres' who were allegedly threatening BJP workers.

Addressing a public meeting at Jalpaiguri in north Bengal on Wednesday, Ghosh said: "A lot of TMC leaders and workers are threatening BJP workers. Either they will go to jail or there will be encounters. We are counting the bullets which killed our workers. A time will come when we will count the bullets and the bodies. We did not sign a bond with TMC to offer them rosogullas if we are attacked by them."

"We have come to warn the TMC workers not to attack BJP men otherwise we will beat them in such a way that there would be no place left in their bodies to tie bandages," he added.

A case has been registered against Ghosh for making inflammatory remarks. Ghosh was in Jalpaiguri as part of the party's statewide protest against the deaths of BJP workers Trilochan Mahato and Dulal Kumar in Purulia. An FIR was lodged against the BJP president in April for allegedly saying that children of TMC workers would be orphaned in the panchayat elections.

However, he rubbished the allegations. During the panchayat elections in May, Ghosh stated that BJP workers would pay back in the same coin to TMC workers in the panchayat elections. Some 14 people died on the day of election on May 13. Earlier this month, he threatened to remove the uniforms of the police after 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
