The extended one-month period for accepting applications came into force from June 15, the day the governor gave assent to the Goa Regularisation of Unauthorised Construction (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018.
The revenue department has already received 4,500 applications – 1,700 in north Goa and 2,800 in South Goa –after the Act came into force, and their scrutiny has also begun. An officer said they expect to receive 100 more applications, but authorities will face a difficult task of picking out applications with non-genuine claims. No structures in public properties or erected on comunidade land, khazan land or no-development zone will be considered.
