Suspicious packages in Saskatoon deemed ‘not a hazard’ by police

Two suspicious packages that were allegedly placed in downtown Saskatoon late Wednesday morning have been called “not a hazard to public safety” by police.
A call was received by Saskatoon police at around 11 a.m. CT stating a man was seen placing a briefcase at the front door of a business in the 100-block of 4th Avenue South.
A second briefcase was reportedly placed in a nearby parking lot.

Police set up a perimeter while the canine and explosive disposal units investigated.
Traffic restrictions were in place on 4th Avenue for a short period of time. Those have since been lifted.
Officers have taken a man into custody, but have not yet laid charges as the investigation continues.
