NBA London 2019: Washington Wizards to face the New York Knicks

The Washington Wizards will play the New York Knicks in the National Basketball Association (NBA) London fixture in 2019. 

Taking place at The O2 on 17 January 2019, the ninth NBA London encounter will see the Wizards play their first overseas regular-season match.

They had previously played pre-season and exhibition matches in China, Israel, the Philippines, Bahamas, Mexico, Germany, Spain and Brazil.

The Wizards will bring a squad that includes international players such as Tomas Satoransky (Czech Republic), Marcin Gortat (Poland) and Ian Mahinmi (France).

It will be the third time the Knicks have played in London after their regular-season games against the Detroit Pistons in 2013 and the Milwaukee Bucks in 2015. New York’s international players are forward Kristaps Porzingis (Latvia) and point guard Frank Ntilikina (France).

All previous eight NBA London matches have sold out. In January the Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers 114-103 at The O2.
