Anger on social media as 5-day-old twin girls 'burnt to death in hospital' – report
A set of of 5-day-old twin girls were reportedly burnt to death while in a nursery last week at Harare Central Hospital in Zimbabwe.
According to ZBC, the twins had been put in an open cradle to recover from jaundice when they were bunt death.
The mother of the twins, Belinda Balalika, discovered that her twins were unresponsive before midnight just as she wanted to breastfeed them.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa reportedly surprised many in Chegutu when he stopped at a fast food outlet to buy lunch over the weekend.
According to the state-owned Herald newspaper, Mnangagwa commandeered his motorcade to Chicken Inn, bringing the food outlet to a standstill, as patrons wanted to get a glimpse of the country's number one.
Mnangagwa ordered a two-piecer and a minute maid and even tipped the cashier who served him.

Vote for Mnangagwa for 'total liberation', VP Chiwenga tells Zimbabweans
Zimbabwean Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has reportedly urged the electorate to vote for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to complete the military intervention that saw Robert Mugabe stepping down last November.
According to the state-owned Herald newspaper, speaking to Zanu-PF supporters in Mabvuku- Tafara, Chiwenga urged the electorate to vote for Mnangagwa's allies in "Senate, the National Assembly, and local government".
Zimbabwe was expected to hold its first election without Mugabe on July 30.

At least 257 illegal baby factories uncovered in Nigerian state – report
At least 257 illegal baby factories have reportedly been uncovered in the Imo State of Nigeria, in a move set to eradicate illegal orphanages.
According to News Express, a number of children were also recovered.
The report quoted Reverend Simeon Nwulu, Special Assistant to the Imo State governor on Non-Governmental Organisations and Allied Matters, as saying that only 15 of the 272 social homes in the state were legal.
Vanguard, indicated earlier this month that the first network of baby factories in Nigeria were identified in 2008.

Brian Gitta, 24, has reportedly become the first Ugandan to win the prestigious Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation, after he invented a device which tests malaria without drawing blood.
According to BBC, Gitta invented the device after three blood tests failed to diagnose his own malaria.
The device is called Matibabu, which means "treatment" in Swahili. It examines the red blood cells of a person when clipped onto the finger without any blood being drawn or any specialist knowledge needed.

Young girls in Kenya are being taught self-defence on how to report sexual and physical attacks.
According to BBC, the training is given in areas where attacks have been prevalent.
"We want to equip girls with skills to prevent themselves [from getting attacked] when they get into an assault situation," says one of the trainers.
Boys have also been included in the programme to create a culture of "mutual respect".
