Cape Town - Arsenal academy graduate Jack Wilshere has confirmed that he is set to exit the London club at the end of his contract which is set to expire at the end of June.
Wilshere confirmed the news on his social media accounts where he thanked the Arsenal fans and detailed his decision to end his long association with the Gunners.
"I can confirm that I will be leaving Arsenal when my contract expires at the end of June," Wilshere said in an Instagram post.
The player went on to say that he had initially decided to sign a new financially reduced contract but after having discussion with new manager Unai Emery it was clear that he would have limited opportunities to play under him.
The 26-year-old thanked fans before saying that he would be now consider his options with it being rumoured that a host of suitors are interested in his signature.
Wilshere has spent 17 years at Arsenal after having joined the academy as a 9-year-old.
