LUCKNOW: Giving a push to development of tourist facilities in
Ayodhya, the state cabinet on Tuesday approved the development of a new bus depot in Ayodhya.
This is one of the biggest projects in the list of many worth Rs 133 crore approved for the temple town.
The cabinet approved transfer of land for the bus depot in its meeting on Tuesday. It will be constructed at a cost of Rs 70 crore.
An official statement by the UP government stated that Ayodhya was associated with the faith of many people living in India and abroad. Several lakh tourists visit Ayodhya every year and there is a need for good quality infrastructure.
Besides, serious efforts are being made to brand Ayodhya. As a part of the same, Ayodhya has been included in the Ramayana Circuit and the Union tourism ministry's Swadesh Darshan scheme which entails tourism development projects.
One of these projects is the development of a
bus station in Saket area of Ayodhya.
According to the arrangement between the state and the Union government, the Centre will sanction funds for the project and UP would provide land for the bus station. To do the needful, the state culture department transferred 1.4 hectare land free of cost to the tourism department for the depot.
