Joint rescue operation recovers bodies of 2 youths

The bodies of two youths who got washed away at Kuzhipilly beach on Saturday were recovered on Monday.

KOCHI:The bodies of two youths who got washed away at Kuzhipilly beach on Saturday were recovered on Monday. According to police officers, Ayyapadas, 18, and Ashik,19, both residents of Ayyambilly at Vypeen, went missing after they got washed away by the giant waves lashing the Kuzhuppilly beach.

A joint rescue operation by the Coast Guard (ICG),  Navy and the Coastal police was launched to find the missing youth. The body of Ayyappadas was recovered during the search operations on Monday morning while Ashik’s body was spotted by fishers near the LNG Project at Puthuvype. Later, an inquest was conducted in the presence of Fort Kochi Tahasildar K V Ambrose and the bodies were shifted to Ernakulam General Hospital for conducting an autopsy.
