The Walt Disney Co. named new creative chiefs for Pixar and its own animation studios Tuesday afternoon, replacing John Lasseter, who led the studio's animation efforts before he exited amid allegations of inappropriate workplace behavior. Disney said that Pete Doctor, known for helming Pixar Oscar-winners "Up" and "Inside Out," will take over as chief creative officer for Pixar, and Jennifer Lee -- the writer and director of "Frozen" -- will take the same position for Walt Disney Animation Studios. "Jennifer Lee and Pete Docter are two of the most gifted filmmakers and storytellers I've ever had the pleasure to work with," Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn said in the announcement, adding, "Each of them embodies the unique spirit, culture, and values of these renowned animation studios, and I couldn't be more thrilled to have them to lead us into the future." Disney stock was quiet in after-hours trading, after closing down 0.9% in the regular session.
