Iceland, with less than 3.4 lakh (0.34 mn) people, is the least populous country to have entered the Fifa World Cup’s group stage.

The side entered the group stage for the first time in 2018. Trinidad and Tobago (1.3 mn people, entered in 2010), Kuwait (1.5 mn people, entered in 1982) and Northern Ireland (1.4 mn, entered in 1958) were the closest among other low population participants.
