The former VC of AU (1998-2001) and distinguish professor at centre of biomedical magnetic resonance at
Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, Prof Khetrapal is the chancellor nominee at AU's EC and a longtime member of this apex decision making body of AU.
Submitting his resignation, the senior member of the EC has termed termination of AU's registrar Col (retd) Hitesh Lav against the norms and states that the present vice-chancellor (Prof R L Hangloo) has no respect f-r 6the laws of the land, the Act and statutes of AU. "He merrily flouts them for his personal goals and I also do not want to be party to the decisions that are not lawful" mentions portion of his two page resignation letter, copy of which is also marked to HRD minister
Prakash Javadekar and chairman, University Grants Commission, Prof D P Singh.
Showing his dismay over, what he claimed as 'illegal' termination of AU registrar, Col (retd) Hitesh Lav, he has written that he, along with two other senior members including Prof K B Pandey and Prof R R Tewari, has raised objection to not tabling of the report of the inquiry committee, on the basis of which Col Lav has been terminated. "A scrupulously honest army officer with 35 years of service in the defence of our nation has been unceremoniously removed without giving him any chance to defend himself", reads the letter.
