Azamgarh police claims to have a big success in an encounter

Azamgarh police claimed to have gunned down a notorious criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest during an encounter on Monday morning.

DIG, Azamgarh, Vijay Bhushan said that acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted two suspects near Amtha Gopalapur village in Jahanaganj area but they tried to escape while firing at the police in which constable Sunny was injured. 

In retaliatory firing, both suspects suffered gunshotinjuries and were rushed to district hospital where doctors declared one of them dead. The deceased was identified as Rakesh Pasi while the arrested criminal as Pappu Pasi. Both were members of the notorious Shyambabu Pasi gang. 

Several criminal cases like murder, loot, dacoity and extortion were registered against Rakesh Pasi and a reward of Rs 50,000 was also announced for his arrest.

Meanwhile in Maharajganj, four women were killed on the spot while 11 others were injured in a mini-truck and taxi collision near Amhawa crossing in Kotwali area on Monday. 

The taxi heading towards Nautanwa dashed into a mini-truck coming from the opposite direction near Amhawa crossing on Monday morning. Four women in the taxi died on the spot while 11 others were injured. While one of the deceased was identified as Radhika (42), efforts were on to ascertained the identity of the others. The injured were rushed to district hospital from where six of them were referred to Baba Raghav Das Medical College hospital, Gorakhpur.

Elsewhere in Mathura, a girl, who was allegedly being molested and teased by her neighbour for a long time, ended her life in Navneet Nagar area on Monday morning. The gir’l father in his complaint contended that the girl was first sent to her uncle’s house in Etawah to save her from Pankaj, who used to molest and tease her. But the girl was eventually kidnapped by Pankaj from Etawah afterwhich he was arrested. 

After being released from jail, Pankaj did not stop harassing the girl. After this the girl’s parents sent her to her aunt’s house in Navneet Nagar, where she committed suicide on Monday morning. 

“A hunt is on to nab the youth who virtually forced the girl to commit suicide,” Deputy SP Vinay Singh Chauhan said. A case was also registered and the body was sent for autopsy.
