Is Fox stealthily assembling a Frasier reunion?
A couple of weeks after Frasier himself (Kelsey Grammer) joined the cast of the upcoming legal drama Proven Innocent, Jane Leeves -- who played Daphne Moon, Niles Crane's (David Hyde Pierce) wife, on the long-running NBC sitcom -- will be a series regular on Season 2 of The Resident, according to Deadline.
Leeves will play Dr. Kitt Voss, a hotshot orthopedic surgeon, on the Matt Czuchry-led medical procedural. She'll find herself getting attention from the creepy hospital CEO Dr. Bell (Bruce Greenwood) and butting heads with cardiothoracic surgeon AJ "The Raptor" Austin (Malcolm-Jamal Warner).
Leeves is one of three new series regulars for Season 2. She'll join Warner and Glenn Morshower, who were promoted from recurring. Other cast members include Emily VanCamp and Manish Dayal.
Frasier's John Mahoney Dead at 77
Now that Frasier and Daphne are on Fox, this means that David Hyde Pierce will have to join Last Man Standing as a effete Niles-esque foil for Tim Allen's man's man to complete the trifecta. (We're not saying we want this, just that it would satisfy the rule of three.)
The Resident Season 2 premieres this fall on Fox.
