Bethel cops share photos of possible suspects in car thefts
BETHEL - Police say there may link between recent car thefts in town and similar cases in the shoreline town of Clinton.
On Monday, the Bethel department shared photos from Clinton police that show “possibly the same suspects that were involved with car burglaries and stolen vehicle in Bethel” last weekend.
At least one car was stolen and others were broken into Saturday night into Sunday morning, according to Bethel police.
Another stolen vehicle had recovered.
Officers believe the cars were left unlocked with the keys left inside.
Bethel police said these incidents are occurring frequently in the area and other local police departments are also investigating similar cases.
On Monday, Bethel police shared a post on Facebook from Clinton PD.
“Officer Lombardo from the Clinton Police Department is attempting to identify the picture subjects who were involved in the theft of motor vehicles from this town along with surrounding towns. The individuals engaged officers in a pursuit that was ultimately called off.
Any information please contact Officer Lombardo at the Clinton Police Department (860) 669-0451; email llombardo@clintonct.org, or Det. Sgt. Flynn email jflynn@clintonct.org, or Det. Cpl. Pellegrini email bpellegrini@clintonct.org.
Bethel police urged residents to lock their cars, remove valuables and take their keys with them.
