Kanu Gohil, who is into construction business, told police that he had gone to attend a bhajan programme in Golden Society near Vaghasi railway crossing. One of the three persons fired outside the entrance gate and later thrashed Gohil.
Gohil (49), a resident of Shakuntala Bungalows, he had given Rs two lakh as loan to one Sandeep Parmar in March last year. Gohil stated in his complaint that Parmar had given him a cheque of Rs two lakh as repayment of this loan. On Monday night, Gohil received calls from Parmar and Devang Brahmbhatt, who asked him to reach Chikhodara crossroads to collect the cash. However, Gohil asked them to reach Golden Society and hand over the money to him there. The duo reached the society and asked Gohil to come out. When Gohil reached the entrance gate, Parmar, Brahmbhatt and their accomplice Lalo started thrashing him.
Gohil alleged that one of the three opened fire in the air while he was being beaten up by the trio.
Police sources said that all three fled from the spot after people attending the ‘bhajan’ programme rushed outside heard the commotion. They fled in a car and left behind a two-wheeler.
