The News-Press editorial board is seeking citizen members to serve a sixth-month term, starting July 1.
Citizen members will be selected based on knowledge of the issues, business and community backgrounds and residency. They will be asked to help the editorial board develop positions on issues for future digital and print editorials, participate in a variety of meetings, involving local leaders and officials, and help with the political endorsement process during primary and general election seasons.
Citizen members are asked to commit to at least four meetings a month, involving discussion on the issues and to meet with guests. Most of the meetings take place at The News-Press, but the board will also travel to meet with officials. The six-month term will end Dec. 31.
Citizen members are required to send a short cover letter on why they would like to be on the board, as well as a resume. Those can be sent to The News-Press Senior Engagement Editor Tom Hayden at thayden@news-press.com.
Applications will be accepted until June 25.
