Child rights body slams World Bank policy research paper
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has slammed a policy research paper of the World Bank which stated the NCPCR was understaffed and the state commissions functional in 14 states.

NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has slammed a policy research paper of the World Bank which stated the NCPCR was understaffed and the state commissions functional in 14 states.
The policy paper, the background paper to the World Development Report 2018, was published about a week ago.
“Some of the contents in the paper are objectionable and factually incorrect and we have taken up the issue with the World Bank India’s country director through a letter,” said NCPCR member Priyank Kanoongo.
“In order to fulfil its statutory obligation, the NCPCR has a separate division dedicated to the monitoring of Right to Education Act, 2009 under the leadership of Member ( Education) with a team of 15 officials.”
The NCPCR also claimed that no researcher contacted its officials.
