Race 3 box office collection stayed strong as the new week started, with the Salman Khan film earning Rs 14.24 crore.

We always knew Salman Khan’s films got a bumper opening at the box office. However, Race 3’s box office collection has proved that reviews are immaterial as fans firmly believe whatever Bhai does, he rules. As the Monday box office collection of Race 3 came in, it is clear that despite a dip the film is still doing well at the ticket windows during a work week. Race 3 earned Rs 14.24 crore on Monday, which brings its domestic net collection to a shade over Rs 120 crore in four days. Though it is a major dip from Sunday’s collections (Rs 39.16 crore), the film has managed a decent earning on a working day despite mostly bad reviews.

Directed by Remo D’Souza, the film became the highest opener of 2018 when it earned Rs 29.17 crore on June 15.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures: “#Race3 puts up a STRONG TOTAL on Mon... Decline on Mon [vis-à-vis Fri: 51.18%]… Mass circuits/single screens are holding very well, while plexes have started sliding downwards... Fri 29.17 cr, Sat 38.14 cr, Sun 39.16 cr, Mon 14.24 cr. Total: ₹ 120.71 cr. India biz.”

Starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, Saqib Saleem and Bobby Deol alongside Salman, Race 3 is the third film in the franchise. Race 3 has another weekend to bump up its earnings. As Taran tweeted earlier, “Unlike #TigerZindaHai, which enjoyed an uninterrupted run for few weeks, #Race3 has one more week to score... Rajkumar Hirani’s much-awaited #Sanju - which is high on hype - hits the screens on 29 June 2018... Obviously, the screens, shows and footfalls are bound to get divided.”

After Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai, Race 3 is Salman’s fourth film to cross the Rs 100-crore-mark in three days. It is also the sixth film to cross Rs 100-crore mark in 2018. Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat, Ajay Devgn’s Raid, Kartik Aaryan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 2 and Alia Bhatt’s Raazi were the other movies to cross the coveted mark.

Race has a strong hold in foreign markets too. For instance, in New Zealand and Fiji, it is already the second highest weekend opener for a Hindi film, according to Rentrak.
