HYDERABAD: Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad Anjani Kumar reviewed Vikalpa Crisis counselling centre on Monday. The Centre rehabilitates women who are forced into sex work.
The centre was set up near Secunderabad Railway Station as it was identified as one of the hot spots for all kinds of crimes, including sex work and trafficking.
Lauding the collective efforts of Prajwala, the NGO that offers support for the Centre, and the police, Anjani Kumar informed that over 60 victims had received rehabilitation support in the last six to seven months. “Soon, the other zones will also follow the same and ensure that we can keep a tab on the crime cases,” he said appreciating B Sumathi, DCP, North Zone.
Sumathi explained how technology has helped in tracking movement of vehicles. “The command control centre where we could see the movements through CCTVs set up in and around the Secunderabad Railway Station has helped us a great deal. We could monitor movement of vehicles,” informed the DCP.
