Karnataka's truck drivers join all-India strike
Truck drivers in the state joined an all-India indefinite strike on Monday, to protest against high diesel prices, high rates of third-party insurance and other issues concerning lorry owners.

BENGALURU: Truck drivers in the state joined an all-India indefinite strike on Monday, to protest against high diesel prices, high rates of third-party insurance and other issues concerning lorry owners.
Channa Reddy, President, Federation of Karnataka Lorry Owners, said the supply of goods would be affected by the strike, but supply of essential items such as water and vegetables would not be affected for now. Till now, the government has not responded to their demands. Reddy said that they are expecting a response in four to five days, and till then the strike would continue. The drivers are also protesting against what they claim is exorbitant toll collected on Highways.
“We will not let oil supply be affected for now. If there is no response for four to five days, then we could stop that too,” Reddy said. The All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners Association has given a call for a strike.
