Harry Kane was the saviour for the England football team on Monday as he scored twice to guide them to victory over Tunisia in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Volgograd on Monday.

Just ahead of the match, Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli took to Twitter to send Harry Kane a good luck message. “Wishing you a successful World Cup campaign @HKane! #WorldCupRussia2018 #HarryCan,” Kohli wrote on the social networking site.

Kohli’s good wishes were not in vain as the Tottenham Hotspur striker, who was playing in his first FIFA World Cup match, handed England the lead in the 11th minute and then scored in the second half stoppage time to clinch the game for his team.

Thanks to his brace, he became the first England footballer to score twice in a FIFA World Cup game since Gary Lineker in 1990 and he will be looking to repeat his heroics when England face Panama in their next group stage encounter on Sunday.

This was not the first time that Virat Kohli and Harry Kane have exchanged pleasantries on the social media. Kane was all praise for Kohli after the charismatic batsman played a match-winning knock against Australia in the World T20 2016. “Virat Kohli is some player! In the high pressure situations shows what type of player you are and he does it time and time again! #IndvsAus,” Kane tweeted.

Kohli responded to Kane on Twitter by thanking the England striker and also congratulating him for his strike against Germany that led England to a 3-2 comeback win in Berlin.
