‘Live workshops help improve skill sets of surgeons’

Workshop on reconstructive urology inaugurated

H. Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), inaugurated the workshop on reconstructive urology, organised by Board of Education-Urological Society of India and Southern Urologists’ Association and Department of Urology and Renal Transplant, here on June 16.

According to a press release here on Monday, speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bhat said that the emerging sub-specialties in Urology would offer relief to patients.

Poornima Baliga, Pro Vice-Chancellor, MAHE, said that such live workshops contribute to improving the skill sets of surgeons and improve the awareness among the people on the subject.

Live reconstructive urology procedures in children and adults were performed by Miroslav Djordjevic, founder and leader of the Belgrade Center for Genital Reconstructive Surgery specialising in sex reassignment surgery, who has a vast experience in the field of reconstructive urology.

He performed various procedures with different spectrum of genital anomalies in children and adults. The event provided opportunity for delegates to watch live proceedings and interact with experts.

The event was telecast for the viewing of members of Urology Society of India through a live webcast.

Urologists from other countries, such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia, also viewed the proceedings through the live webcast.

Urologists from different parts of the country participated in the workshop.
