Kyrgios lost to Federer in the Stuttgart Open semi-finals on Saturday but took a lot of confidence from the performances after taking the new world No 1 to two tie-breaks.
The match was Federer’s toughest during the tournament, which he went on to win by beating Milos Raonic in the final.
And Kyrgios has hailed the Swiss star for a particular skill which he believes even Rafael Nadal cannot compare to.
“He just looks efficient,” Kyrgios said.
“He looks so comfortable on the grass. I have never played anyone with a better sort of serve and first ball, especially on the grass.
“He just takes all the time away and he seems so relaxed.
“His block return on his backhand side is money.
“He looks in form. The last couple of months wasn't from injury for him.
“He's just been chilling out and getting ready for this grass season. He's very dangerous at the moment.”
