President Kovind leaves for Surinamese on the second leg of three-nation tour |

President Ram Nath Kovind has left for Surinamese capital, Paramaribo on the second leg of his three-nation tour to Greece, Suriname and Cuba.
He is accompanied by a delegation including Minister of state for steel Vishnu Deo Sai and two members of parliament. The President was in Greece for four days where he met his Greek counterpart Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime minister Alexis Tsipras.
Leader of Opposition Kyriakos Mitsotakis also called on the Indian President. Mr Kovind in his talks with the Greek leaders reaffirmed the ancient and cordial ties between the two countries. Three MOUs were signed during the visit, on subjects as wide-ranging as Cultural relations, Standardisation and collaboration between Foreign Service Institutes of both countries.
India and Greece decided to enhance their people-to-people contact along with economic and trade relations.
In that context, the Indian President met business delegations from both India and Greece who reaffirmed their commitment to further improve their trade connect.
President Kovind also met members of Indian community settled in Greece and encouraged them to be the Cultural ambassadors of India and also take advantage of the facilities and privileges extended to them by India. On the last day of his tour to Greece, the President also addressed an event on India and Europe in a changing world organised by the Hellenic Foundation for Europe and Foreign Policy.
In his address, the President emphasised that both India and Greece believe that the 21st century will be built by democracies like ours.
