CHITWAN: A person died and another sustained injuries in a motorcycle-bus collision in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10 of Chitwan district, along the East-West Highway, on Tuesday morning.
Police have identified the deceased as Raksimaya Mahato (50) of Madi Municipality-1 in the district and injured as her husband Ram Prasad Mahato (53).
The incident occurred when the bus (Ga 1 Kha 1973) en route from Tandi to Narayangadh rear-ended the motorcycle (Na 13 Pa 6714) heading in the same direction in Hakim Chok at 10:30 am today, injuring two, according to District Police Office, Chitwan.
Critically injured Raksimaya breathed her last during the course of treatment at Bharatpur-based Chitwan Medical College, while her husband who sustained minor injuries is getting treatment there, police added.
Meanwhile, police have impounded the vehicle and detained its driver for further investigation.
