Parking lot, sidewalk and garage repairs mean the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre in Guelph will be closed for six weeks this summer.

The centre will be closed starting July 2. The Evergreen Restaurant will close as of 1 p.m. on June 28.

The work being done at the centre includes parking lot repairs and repaving, sidewalk replacement, lighting installation and garage waterproofing repairs.

The city said pedestrian and vehicle access to Riverside Residences on the Park will be maintained throughout the project.

While the work is happening, recreation programs will be available through the Victoria Road Recreation Centre or the West End Community Centre.

The centre and restaurant are expected to reopen August 7.

The Guelph Wellington Seniors Association noted on its website the activities the group plans outside the centre, including golf, walking, canoeing, photography and cycling, will continue on during the centre's closure.
