Two held for stealing iron scrap

Vadodara: A scrap dealer and another person were arrested by the local crime branch of Chhota Udepur police on Monday night for stealing iron scrap from a truck in Naswadi police station area. Police said that the accused — Kamlesh Rathwa, Pradeep Padhiyar, the driver of the truck, and Bhola Rathod — had stolen iron scrap worth Rs 15 lakh along on May 26 in Naswadi. The accused had later sold it off to the scrap dealer Salman Jujara.
LCB sleuths had received information that the stolen truck was taken towards Nalej village in Chhota Udepur taluka. When the cops started the investigation, it came to light that the accused had unloaded scrap material in the farm of Rathwa’s father. They then deserted the truck and transported the iron scrap in another vehicle.

The stolen iron scrap material was sold to Jujara. The police then arrested the duo on Monday. A police official said that the accused admitted to stealing the scrap and selling it off to some other person.

Police said that the accused had forcefully entered the truck when it was parked near Narmada canal in Naswadi on May 26. The owner of the iron scrap Gauravsingh Kushwaha was transporting the scrap material to Indore. The accused thrashed Kushwaha and took away the truck leaving him behind.

A police official said that they are searching for Padhiyar and Rathod, who are still on the run.
