MANGALURU: It was a day to remember for not only Chethan but also to the people of Puttur. Chethan, a backhoe operator took his bride Mamata to a wedding procession on the same machine which gave him livelihood.

Special and unique wedding procession where newlywed couple taken on a backhoe took place at Parpunja in Puttur. According to bridegroom, Chetan, hailing from Kallakatta wanted to show his gratefulness towards his job, by giving the vehicle its credit. He after tying knot to Mamata at a marriage hall at Parpunja, Chetan made his wife to seat in backhoe and rode in it. The wedding procession on a backhoe which otherwise takes place on a car, attracted scores of people, who also took time in wishing newlywed couple.

Elated Chetan said that he wanted his wedding to be something special and he involved his work. To this, he got a backhoe or earthmover stationed in marriage which was decked-up like another bride. After completion of wedding ceremony, he along with his wife got seated into it and drove it all way till Santyar. After reaching Santyar, Chetan along with his wife got into backhoe shovel and his friend drove them till house.

After reaching home, bride and bridegroom were given some house chore task by friends and relatives. While Chethan was given work to grate coconut, Mamata was asked to clean the fish. Later, bride was asked to prepare tea for all the guest present.

Though idea of Chethan was appreciated by general public and his relatives but for some time it did left new bride Mamata in embarrassment.
