Forest guard attacked by sand and wood mafia in Mohali

MOHALI: Forest Guard identified as Davinder Singh has been allegedly attacked with sharp edged weapon in Mohali on Tuesday. According to the administration the forest guard was manning a check post to check the transportation of illegal sand mining trucks and woods during the day. The checkpost was set up at Majri block in Kharar sub division.

Three mores guards have also been attacked but escaped with minor injuries.

The injured guard has been rushed to PGIMER trauma centre with severe head and neck injuries.

Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra said that after being informed about the incident she rushed to the spot and took the stock of the situation. Sapra said that she had also visited PGI Trauma Centre where the injured security guard has been admitted and the doctors said that they will conduct a surgery on the injured guard. The guard has sustained injuries on his head, neck and shoulders said the doctors treating him.

Sapra also added that she is going to issue another circular with strict instructions to carry out massive drive against the illegal sand and wood mining areas in Kharar, Dera Bassi and Zirakpur block. The police is in process of registering the FIR in the case.
