This ‘dead’ Avengers Infinity War character is still alive, says actor

While the fate of the ‘dead’ Avengers remain up in the air following the events of Infinity War, one actor whose character seemingly dies in the film feels there’s room for a resurrection.

Speaking at a recent press day for his upcoming film, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Avengers: Infinity War star Benicio del Toro said that he believes his character in the Marvel universe, The Collector, is still alive.

The Collector was apparently killed in a sequence mid-way through the film, when the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive at his home to challenge the villainous Thanos. Briefly, it seems as if they have the upper hand, only for their hopes to be crushed when it is revealed that Thanos is using the Reality Stone. Thanos obliterates the Collectors home, although we never see his dead body overtly.

“I think he’s alive,” Del Toro told CinemaBlend. “Yeah... I think that, you know, I think he’s alive.”

Benicio del Toro plays the Collector, opposite Zoe Saldana’s Gamora.

Even if he survived this scene, the Collector would have had to survive Thanos’ finger snap, which ‘killed’ half the universe’s population, including half the Avengers.

While several heroes were reduced to dust in the film’s final moments, characters such as the Collector, Loki and Gamora had met with what appeared to be more conclusive deaths.

It has long been rumoured that Avengers 4, scheduled to arrive in May 2019, will involve the surviving heroes using the Infinity Stones to travel back in time and attempt to rescue the fallen heroes. Set pictures, an unofficial synopsis and the fact that the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp will involve alternate dimensions, have reinforced these fan theories.
