NMC, other bodies gear up for Yoga Day

Nagpur: Various organizations in the city are gearing up to celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21 by organizing special camps and events.
Taking the lead with a community event at Yeshwant Stadium is Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). The event will be held from 6am to 8am.

“Twelve organizations including Janardanswami Yogabhiyasi Mandal, Esha Foundation, Art of Living, Bramhakumaris, NCC cadets will be joining us and we have provided them with slots of 5 to 25 minutes depending upon their requirements,” deputy mayor Deepraj Pardikar said.

The civic body has made arrangements to accommodate up to 20,000 persons. “A green carpet will be laid out, but considering the weather, the modules designed are of standing postures and no aasan which requires lying down has been included,” said Pardikar.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari will be the chief guest, while mayor Nanda Jichkar will preside over the function and district guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and city MLAs and MLCs will also remain present.

The NMC will provide city bus facility for yoga lovers to commute to Yeshwant Stadium from different destinations from 5.30am. The buses will ply from SBI Jaiprakash Nagar, Mavliya Nagar Khamla, Sonegaon (via Shankar Nagar route), Atre Layout, Laxmi Nagar Square, Surya Nagar Garden (via Central Avenue), Ayachit Mandir, Shradhhanand Anthalaya, Veer Chakra Colony, Sai Mandir, Katol Road, Mangalwari Bazaar, Trimurti Nagar, Juna Dighori bus stop etc.

Patanjali Yog Samvanya Samiti in association with NMC will organize another event at Reshimbagh Ground. Mayor Nanda Jichkar, MLA Sudhakar Kohle, municipal commissioner Virendra Singh and chief guardian at Patanjali Yogpeeth Yashpajil Arya will remain present.

Chitnavis Centre will conduct a question-answer session on ‘Yoga for treatment of ailments’ by Yogaachaarya Kedar Joshi at Laburnum, Civil Lines, from 6.30pm to 8pm. For more information one can call on 9423033325.
