THANE:
Two babies had a miraculous escape after a small portion of the plaster on the ceiling of the
gynaecology ward at
Thane civil hospital fell on their bed late on Tuesday.
Doctors said there were no visible injuries on the month-old infant and the four-day-old baby. Even x-ray reports showed the infants had suffered no injuries, the doctors informed their parents. Civil surgeon Dr Kailash Pawar said: “The infants did not suffer any injuries. We have shifted the 19 patients to other wards.”
Patients complained about the staff’s tardy response. “We were kept waiting in the open; we were worried that our babies would contract some infection. We were then sent to a ward in the adjacent building, but it was stinking so we left,” a patient told TOI.
