Congratulations to Michele (Shelly) Smolnery as she begins her two-year term as State President of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Pennsylvania. Her installation took place on May 19, 2018 at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township. Shelly has been an active member of the GFWC for over 40 years. During that time, she has held various elected and appointed positions on the local, county, district, state, regional, and international levels. Shelly is a member of the GFWC Pennsylvania Woman’s Club of Baden.

Shelly’s theme for her administration is “Step it up….Volunteer.” Her theme involves both stepping up to volunteer in various GFWC projects and stepping up personal activity to include increased walking for each and every club member.

Her State President’s project is “Domestic Violence Awareness.” The Women’s Clubs throughout the state will be doing projects on such issues as spousal/partner abuse; elder abuse; human trafficking; child/family abuse; to mention a few areas of Domestic Violence that will be addressed during the next two years.
