Spider-Man 2 cancelled after Avengers Infinity War? Tom Holland jokes about THAT twist
TOM HOLLAND has joked that Spider-Man: Homecoming’s sequel is off the table after Avengers: Infinity War.
WARNING: Major spoilers ahead for Avengers Infinity War.
Spider-Man was, of course, one of the many fatalities at the end of the ensemble Marvel smash; turning to ash when Thanos executed the Snap.
Holland is confirmed to be returning to the role of Peter Parker for a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, but he’s joked on Twitter that the end of Infinity War has led to it being scrapped.
Safe to say, that didn’t go down too well with his fans.

The joke started when Chris Pratt let slip that he’d told Holland the entire plot to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
That movie’s director JA Bayona tweeted: “That was supposed to be a secret, @TomHolland1996!! You're a weasel!!”
“I just got so excited. This is exactly why marvel won’t tell me the plots anymore,” Holland replied.
Bayona quipped: “Don't worry, man. I'm not telling anyone anything about Spider-Man 2…”
That prompted Holland to joke: “What do you mean Spiderman 2? Didn’t you see avengers #idontwannago.”
Swathes of fans then rushed to light-heartedly push back, sharing a stream of memes and GIFs along the lines of “too soon”.
It’s been hinted by Avengers: Infinity War directors the Russo brothers that the deaths seen in the movie will not be reversed - but last year it was revealed that the new Spider-Man movie will start just minutes after the end of next year’s as-yet-untitled Avengers 4.

Spider-Man: Homecoming was a huge hit for Marvel; conquering the box office and earning hugely positive reviews, after the lukewarm reception received by the Andrew Garfield-fronted Spidey films.
Infinity War has been out in cinemas for eight weeks now and is still in the US Top 10. Its US gross has now eclipsed the overall global total achieved by DC rival Justice League.
Spider-Man 2 is out in 2019.
