LUDHIANA: Two groups of armed youth came to blows at a restaurant on
Tibba Road on Saturday night.
The restaurant owner,
Sarabjit Singh Bindra, said in his police complaint, "Two sets of youngsters were having dinner around 9.30pm. Suddenly, they started arguing. As tempers frayed, one of the groups called up its accomplices, who barged into the restaurant armed with swords and sticks. As they attacked the other group, the latter called up their friends. By the time the second group's friends reached the joint, the first group had fled with its accomplices."
Infuriated, the second group vandalised the restaurant, assaulted its workers and made off with Rs 22,000 from the till.
Bindra was at another branch of his restaurant when a worker called him up and apprised him of the rumpus. "Two of my workers, Rahul Kumar and Basant Vallabh, were injured during the scuffle. I called on police helpline 100 several times, but got no response."
The CCTV cameras installed at the restaurant have captured the incident.
Tibba Road police station SHO inspector Dalip Kumar said, "We have received a complaint. Statements are being recorded to lodge an FIR."
