Two others, including a constable, get bail

The District and Sessions Court rejected the bail plea of eight accused in cattle trader Hussainabba’s death case, while granting bail to two others here on Monday.

It rejected the bail plea of suspended sub-inspector D.N. Kumar, police driver Gopal, and six others. But the court granted bail to constable Mohan Kotwal and another accused Prasad Kondady. Another person said to be involved in the case, Tukaram, got anticipatory bail.

Meanwhile, the CID team took over the case from the local police.

All the eight accused other than the three policemen allegedly belong to a right-wing organisation.

Hussainabba, 62, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Shenarbettu near Perdoor in Udupi district on May 30. The post-mortem report submitted to the court on June 15 by the police pointed to head injury as the cause of his death.
