Tension prevailed in the Kotwali area of the city when four persons were injured following clashes between people from two communities Badaun district on Saturday. Superintendent of Police Sachindra Patel said, “Four persons were injured in stone pelting during the violence that erupted between two communities. The police launch a massive manhunt and nabbed as many as 18 persons, from both the sides, involved in the crime.”

The SP said the brawl was a fall out of an incident, reported three days back, when some boys belonging to the minority community allegedly had entered a marriage place in a Dalit locality forcibly, and started objecting to songs being played there. In retaliation, the other side chased the boys and beat them to vent their ire, the official said.

On the day of Eid, the boys came out of the Masjid after offering namaj and saw the Dalit boys, who had attacked them three days back at the marriage venue, while they were strolling in the street in their locality and attacked them to avenge the insult they suffered in the previous incident. This ensued in a class between the two groups of people of different communities as supporters from both the side assembled the scene.
