Fire breaks out at Panki power plant

KANPUR: A major fire broke out in a transformer and other electric equipment at Panki Power house in Panki area of the city on Sunday.
Station house officer, Panki, Shesh Narain Pandey said that as per the Panki Power House officials it is suspected that one of the transformer caught fire due to overheating. Apart from transformer, electric wires and other items also reduced to ashes in no time. However, fortunately there were no casualties reported in the incident.

Several fire tenders from nearby fire stations rushed to the spot and doused the flame. The fire disrupted traffic on Kanpur-Kanpur Dehat road for a while. The incident triggered panic among the passersby and local residents of the area. Many people gathered near boundary of the power house.
