A Minnesota company will more than triple the size of its operations in Marion with a new distribution facility.

Spee-Dee Delivery Service broke ground Monday on a new distribution center, 6611 Partners Ave., in the Marion Enterprise Center.

The St. Cloud, Minn-based delivery company plans to spend about $4 million constructing the 27,000-square-foot facility.

Once complete, the new center will replace Spee-Dee’s existing 8,000-square-foot building in Marion.

Spee-Dee Delivery has 41 full-time employees in Marion, but plans to hire additional staff during the next five years, according to a news release.

The company is the latest to expand or move into the Marion Enterprise Center, an industrial park at the southeast corner of Highways 13 and 151. Freund-Vector Corp. announced plans in January to build a new research-and-development center in the industrial park, while both LimoLink Inc. and Legacy Manufacturing announced their own projects for the area last year.
