Dancing With The Stars NZ: Roger Farrelly is eliminated after team dance-off

Renee Clayton / Stuff

Bachelor star Zac Franich and Rock FM Morning Rumble host Roger Farrelly prepare for Dancing with the Stars.

REVIEW:  Roger Farrelly is the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Dancing With The Stars NZ.

Yes, it's true, David Seymour lives to boogie yet another day.

With just two weeks to go in the competition, the loss of Rocking Rog at this point means Seymour, along with Chris Harris, Shav Ruakere, Jess Quinn and Sam Hayes have made it to the semi-finals.

HIT: The Road Rog

It came down to a dance off between Roger and Jess - and perhaps unsurprisingly, it was the radio DJ who was told his time was up. He's been a champ, showing black t-shirt-wearing dudes everywhere they shouldn't be afraid to strap on some lycra and sequins and shimmy their way around the dance floor. But I think we can all agree, this was probably the easiest decision the judges had to make so far this season.

MISS: Team Dance

Why? Just why? While we all love a theme, sometimes, the gimmicks just get in the way. And I'm not sure anyone out there could tell me splitting the celebs down the middle and making them dance with each other was a good idea. What we were given was, well, pretty messy...

Ad Feedback

Even with the liability of David Seymour, a team with Sam Hayes and Chris Harris dancing together has a clear leg up on the competition. And I completely disagree that they were the worst performing group - their approach of just hiding Seymour behind the rest of the dancers whenever possible seemed to pay off. And who doesn't love a casual partner swap?

MISS: Crunchy Criminal

Oh Roger, you lean machine. Dancing alongside Shav and Jess, there was a lot of energy, but if I'm honest, when I think of Michael Jackson, I do not think of Mr Roger Farrelly. Sure, he put a load of effort into the routine that he was essentially the lead of, but enthusiasm doesn't make up for a tumble and general lack of rhythm. Was it the nail in the coffin this week? Probably not, but it certainly didn't help his cause.
