LAS VEGAS—Before “Avengers: Infinity War,” starring Chris Evans as Captain America, grossed $2 billion world-wide this spring, making it the fourth movie in history to clear that mark, there was the original “Captain America” movie. It doesn’t look a lot like the Marvel movie juggernauts.

The 1990 “Captain America,” starring the son of author J.D. Salinger, has a 16% approval rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and failed to secure a U.S. theatrical release, going straight to video.
