Electric Mercedes-Benz EQ C Takes Shape in New Spy Photos

The electric Mercedes-Benz EQ C has been spied testing looking more production-ready than ever before.

The fully electric crossover will be the first mass-produced, dedicated EV sold by Mercedes-Benz. It will ride on a new platform designed specifically for electric vehicles called EVA, which will share a suspension setup and other basic elements with the MRA platform used in the C-Class and a variety of other Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Expected to feature a 70 kWh battery pack, the EQ C should have a real-world driving range of around 250-300 miles.  Two electric motors, one mounted at each axle, will provide maximum output of around 300 kW, or 400 hp. The vehicle will also sprint from 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds, putting it on par with the Jaguar I-Pace.

This new batch of spy images reveals the EQ C’s LED headlights, narrow LED taillights and other production features such as aerodynamically-optimized wheels and low rolling resistance tires. Not surprisingly, the electric crossover will stay true to the Mercedes Generation EQ first shown in late 2016.

Mercedes will debut the production EQ C this fall before putting the vehicle on sale in early to mid-2019.
