Liverpool transfer news: Has France World Cup star Blaise Matuidi just confirmed deal?
FRANCE World Cup star Blaise Matuidi may have just let slip confirmation of a Liverpool transfer deal being completed.
Matuidi is currently competing for his country in Russia and the Juventus star helped his side to a 2-1 win over Australia in yesterday’s Group C match.
Despite the World Cup, the Frenchman was however asked about club football dealings and gave his thoughts on the potential arrival of Emre Can this summer.
“I am happy he’s coming, because he has experience and quality,” he said.
“After all, he is a German international. We’ll welcome him with open arms, I know he’ll do very well with us.”
Liverpool confirmed earlier this month the Germany international would be leaving the club after he failed to agree a new contract.

Can has been heavily tipped to join the Serie A champions although there has been no official confirmation of a transfer just yet.
But Matuidi’s comments seem to suggest he already knows he could be linking up with the 24-year-old next season in Italy.
Liverpool have already made plans to cover Can’s departure with the arrivals of Fabinho and Naby Keita.
Jurgen Klopp is clearly looking to build on last season’s impressive showing that culminated in a Champions League final appearance and former Red Xabi Alonso believes they need to add squad depth.
“I think they need to not just have a ‘short’ team. Not 14 players - you need to list 20, 22 players to be able to cope with so many games,” he said.
“Each game, each point is so important so you need to have the whole squad connected, ready to perform at the highest level, but with the principles and the idea very clear. That can’t change from game to game.
“For me the important thing is the team. The team is already built. After, for sure you need to bring new players, you need to add new, good things, but that doesn’t disturb what they have already been doing.”
