KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to senior advocate
Nalini Chidambaram asking her to appear before the agency's office in Kolkata on June 20 in connection with
Saradha scam probe.
Chidambaram, who was the counsel for Saradha accused Manoranjana Sinh, has sought time from the ED. She had earlier pleaded that a petition is pending with the Madras high court.
Probe into cases like Saradha, Rose Valley and
Narada are likely to get a push as CBI special director Rakesh Asthana is scheduled to be in Kolkata on a two-day visit on Tuesday morning.
Asthana will go through the progress of the cases with the special crime branch, anti-corruption branch and economic offences wing. He is likely to chart a blueprint for the progress of investigation. Roles of some of the investigators during the early stages of investigation is also likely to come under the radar during the review.
Apart from Rs 2,459 crore Saradha muddle, the anti-corruption branch of the CBI has taken up 393 non-Saradha cases in which investors were duped in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Jharkhand.
The CBI had set up a special investigation team in 2014 to probe into the Saradha ponzi scam following an order from the Supreme Court.
