‘DU will try to get all working ad hoc faculty continued’

The deadlock between the Delhi University Teachers’ Association and DU administration finally ended in the evening on June 16 with a meeting between the V-C and association office-bearers, DUTA president Rajib Ray said on Sunday.

“The V-C finally took a view of the crisis precipitated by the UGC’s March 5 notification on the roster and assured DUTA that DU will try to get all working ad hoc faculty continued in the new session, subject to the impending Supreme Court hearing of July 2,” said Mr. Ray. On counting of past services, the V-C has agreed to allow a five-member DUTA delegation to represent its position before the university committee that is working on a report related to the matter.

On the issue of pension, the DUTA delegation was informed that financial estimates for the “option” categories have been compiled and are being processed. They will be forwarded to the UGC and the MHRD soon.

The association said in a statement that the V-C also appealed for end of the evaluation boycott in the interest of the students. The association has called an emergency DUTA executive on Tuesday, to be followed by a General Body Meeting the same afternoon, to review the current situation and decide on the future course of action.
