EV India Summit 2018: Ushering green mobility

Organised by Explore Exhibitions and Conference LLP, the summit is all set to revolutionise the electric vehicles (EVs) industry by driving EV adoption in India.

Adopting a new technology is always a big challenge but a revolution is awaiting for the Indian automotive industry, going green by bringing eco-friendly vehicles. Today, one can see most of the automaker introducing a concept vehicle and idea for electric vehicle but surprisingly no company is moving forward to create history. While the government has announced its plan to go electric by 2030, it is not yet ready with the policy. EV enthusiastic in India says bringing eco-friendly automotive technologies to India in the absence of a clear policy framework is a challenge.

In order to find solutions to these issues, Explore Exhibitions and Conference LLP is organising its first edition of EV India Summit 2018 from June 18-19 in New Delhi. Organised in association with Energy Efficient Services Limited (EESL), Society of Electric Vehicle Association (SMEV), and India Energy storage Alliance (IESA), the event is supported by NITI Aayog, Ministry of Micro, Small And Medium Enterprises (MSME), and Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).

Domestic market

The Indian auto industry is one of the largest in the world which accounts for 7.1per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Production of passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers grew at 5.41per cent in FY17 to 25 million vehicles from 24 million vehicles in FY16. Exhaustion of fossil fuels, environmental concerns and increase in energy costs is compelling India to shift to electric mobility. E-mobility is the future and the most potential solution.

Committing to the Paris Agreement, India has announced a major transformation to electric vehicles by 2030. The Government has also initiated Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles (FAME) scheme which provides incentives for purchasing electric vehicles. Substantially, the ‘National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020’ which was formed in 2013 addresses issues of National energy security, vehicular pollution and growth of domestic manufacturing capabilities. India’s electric vehicle (EV) sales increased 37.5 per cent to 22,000 units during FY 2015-16. Government’s vision is to see six million electric and hybrid vehicles by 2020.

Electric vehicles are making big splashes in Indian market. According to a report, the electric vehicles (EV) market is expected to record double-digit growth rates with rise in sales volume annually in India till 2020. Huge investment and demand for skilled work force in India has been witnessing interest in electric vehicles and other green mobility solutions. Final credible solutions
