For kids who want to spend their summer learning about riding and caring for horses, Marcody Ranch off Pioneer Trail near New Smyrna Beach is the place to be.
The ranch operates weeklong camps all summer long. Among the activities are riding, swimming and craft-making. Participants also learn about ground care for the horses, which includes handling and training, grooming, bathing and other aspects of horse care and management, said Hope Rosenthal, the ranch's owner.
