Rajkot: Two aged brothers, the elder of whom had set ablaze the family of other over property dispute in Bhuj, succumbed to the burn injuries in GK General hospitl on Monday.
Retired school teacher Mohammed Ibrahim Shah(70) had suffered over 90% burns when his 80-year-old brother Haji Yusuf Shah doused his family with inflammable liquid in their house and set them on fire on the night of Eid. Yusuf Shah, a retired government employee, had also suffered burns in the incident.
Ibrahim’s wife Sherbano (65) and younger daughter Zulekha (43) had died few hours after being charred. Sources said that the family was highly educated but were involved in the dispute over the ancestral house for the past many years.
His elder daughter Sabera is under treatment. All were set on fire when they are asleep.
The brothers were living in the same compound with Ibrahim living in the bigger house while Yusuf lived in a small room.
At around 1:30am, Yusuf went to Ibrahim’s house near Paris Bakery with a bottle of inflammable liquid and started dousing it on them. Sherbano and Zulekha were sleeping inside a room with the door open while Ibrahim and Sabera were sleeping outside. Yusuf also tried to the house on fire.
Neighbours called up the police and ambulance and all were rushed to the GK General Hospital.
