Journalists who were silenced

The death of journalist Shujaat Bukhari on June 14, 2018 has once again highlighted the fact that India fares poorly when it comes to protecting the messenger. Last year, it was Gauri Lankesh, an outspoken critic of right-wing groups, who was silenced. Since 1992, 40 journalists have been killed, of which 27 were slained in direct retaliation for their work.
